CLARION, Pa. - Clarion women's soccer fell 2-0 against the California Vulcans Saturday afternoon dropping their record to 2-4-0.
There were lots of positives for the Golden Eagles in the loss. Clarion, after giving up a goal in the 13
th minute of the game, found chances which they did not capitalize on, but still had some quality ball movement. Late in the second half the Vulcans seized the opportunity adding another goal after coming down and scoring on the counter after Clarion had gained little momentum back.

Laura Saussol played well for the Golden Eagles stopping nine of California's 11 shots on goal. The two goals Saussol did allow were very difficult shots to save. Both Cal goals allowed came with superb passing. The first goal by Erin Hogan was set up nicely by Chelsea Crockett. Crockett added another assist along with Francesca Scenna on Kaeli Tuinstra's 86
th minute goal putting the Golden Eagles away for good.

"I really thought we were in the game the whole way," said coach
Sean Esterhuizen after the match. "We had two really good looks that I think we could have converted, and that would have been the difference in the game. I'm very proud of the girls. They have tremendous comradery and team spirit. They leave it on the field and you can't ask more from your team than that."
Clarion prepares for the Millersville Marauders as they travel from Lancaster, Pa., at 6 p.m. Wednesday to take on the Golden Eagles at Memorial Stadium.
