CLARION, Pa. – Behind the senior leadership of
Laura Subject who had 41 set assists and seven digs and
Carlie Bieranowski who had 13 kills and eight digs Clarion defeated Concord in Tippin Gym Friday morning, improving its record to 2-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles won in three sets 25-17, 25-18, and 25-23 respectively.
"Laura and Carlie stepped up as leaders today," Clarion head coach
Jennifer Mills said. "Laura was finding the right hitters on a young team."
Tied at 20 in the third set,
Mackenzie Biggs boomed home a kill off a perfect set from Subject that gave the Golden Eagles a lead that they would not relinquish. Biggs contributed with five kills and three digs.
Also for the Golden Eagles
Abbey Cox added 11 kills and one block. The freshmen duo of
Taylor Braunagel and
Gabrielle Olson had strong matches respectively. Braunagel had five kills and three digs while Olson pitched in with seven kills, one dig and one block.
Morgan Seybold led the Golden Eagles with 17 digs while
Mattison Thornton added 11 digs. Freshman
Catherine Ferragonio helped out with eight digs.
The Golden Eagles return to action 7:30 p.m. Friday against Walsh in Tippin Gym.
