CLARION, Pa. – Its back to the road for the Clarion University women's basketball team, which will start a two-game road swing when it travels to Edinboro for a 1 p.m. start Saturday.
The Golden Eagles, who are coming off a 53-41 loss to Mercyhurst Wednesday, are looking for their first win at Edinboro since the 2009 season. Clarion (1-15 overall, 0-11 PSAC West) is also looking for its first win since a victory over Ursuline Nov. 23.
Junior guard
Tania Holmes leads Clarion averaging 14.1 points per game, the 11
th-best mark in the PSAC. She is coming off a 19-point effort vs. Mercyhurst and has scored 40 points in her last two games while topping the 20-point mark five times this year. Holmes adds 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per contest. She recorded her first career double-double Wednesday by adding a career-high 10 rebounds.

Delrika Jones-Carey is averaging 10.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, ranking ninth in the conference in rebounding. Since Dec. 31, she is scoring 15.3 points per game while adding 10.5 rebounds per contest. She had 10 points, her sixth straight double-digit game, and seven rebounds Wednesday.
Edinboro (11-5, 8-4) is coming off an 86-60 loss at IUP Wednesday, and the Scots have dropped two in a row.
The Fighting Scots feature a well-balanced offense that has four players averaging in double digits and fifth just on the cusp of 10 points per game.
Reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Year Valerie Majewski paces the Scots at 12.9 ppg while adding 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per contest. She had 17 points and four assists Wednesday vs. IUP.
Laruen Hippo and Lindsay Laurel each add 12.8 points per game, and Laurel recently scored her 1,000
th career points, while Aignee' Freedland chips in 12.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest and Hope Mancini 9.9 points per game.
Edinboro has the seventh-ranked scoring offense in the PSAC (70.3 ppg) and the seventh-ranked scoring defense (62.7 ppg), while Clarion is 18
th in scoring (54.9 ppg) and 15
th in points allowed (69.9).
After Saturday, Clarion stays on the road to face Slippery Rock at 6 p.m. Wednesday before returning home against IUP at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24.
