CLARION, Pa. – Nationally ranked IUP visits Clarion at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in PSAC West women's basketball action.
 
The Crimson Hawks (16-1 overall, 12-1 PSAC West) are in first place in the PSAC West and ranked 13^th in the nation in the latest coaches' poll.
 
Clarion enters the game at 1-17 overall and 0-13 in the PSAC West but the Golden Eagles have been much more competitive in their last few games including nearly upsetting defending PSAC and Atlantic Region champion Edinboro last Saturday before falling 64-59.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a 68-57 loss at Slippery Rock Wednesday, Clarion's seventh road contest in its last nine games. Saturday night, though, starts a three-game homestand for the Golden Eagles, who will play four of their next five at Tippin Gym.
 
IUP beat Pitt-Johnstown 79-60 Wednesday.
 
Junior guard Tania Holmes leads Clarion averaging 14.7 points per game, which ranks 11^th in the PSAC. She is also eighth in the conference in steals per game with 2.2 while adding 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. Holmes is coming off her sixth 20-point game of the year Wednesday at Slippery Rock when she poured in 20 points while hitting a career-high six 3-pointers. She added six assists, five rebounds and four steals in the contest.
 
IUP, winners of three straight since suffering its lone loss of the season, 73-68 in overtime, to California (Pa.) Jan. 10, is paced by the PSAC's leading scorer, Lindsay Stamp, who averages 20.6 points per game.
 
After Saturday, Clarion is back in action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown.
