HALL, STEVENS, ANDREWS LEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL TO WIN AT MILLERSVILLE

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Kyheim Hall, Darius Stevens and BJ Andrews combined for 58 points, and the Clarion University men's basketball team held off a furious late rally by Millersville to get an 80-78 win in PSAC Crossover play at Millersville Sunday.

Hall recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds while adding three steals and shooting 8 of 12 from the floor, Stevens had 20 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots and Andrews added 17 points, four rebounds and four assists while going 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.

The three-some helped Clarion (6-5 overall, 4-3 PSAC West) build a 17-point lead, 78-61, with just under three minutes to play, and the lead remained at 15, 79-64, following an Andrews free throw with 2:07 left.

But Millersville rallied behind a defense that forced seven turnovers in the final 1:36 and an offense that got hot connecting on 5 of its next seven shots after the Andrews including a pair of 3-pointers to close within a points, 79-78, on a Shawn Williams layup with two seconds to play.

Andrews was then fouled with 1.2 seconds left and hit the back end of a two-shot foul to put the Golden Eagles up two.

Millersville had one more chance, but a 3-pointer from near midcourt by Kelvin Parker fell off the mark.

Parker led Millersville with a game-high 28 points while adding seven rebounds and four steals. Williams chipped in with 13 points and five assists, and Sam Light had 11 points.

Cameron Grumley added 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists for Clarion.

Trailing by nine, 54-45, following a Tavon Parker triple four minutes into the second half, the Golden Eagles scored 33 of the next 40 points to seemingly take complete control of the game with the 17-point lead after an old-school 3-point play by Stevens at the 2:57 mark.

Hall (11 points) and Stevens (10 points) keyed the run that also saw Grumley add six, BJ Andrews two and Rob Agurs two. Agurs' layup at 13:08 tied the game, 54-54, for the first time since it was 8-8, and Hall's layup at 11:30 gave Clarion the lead, 56-54, for the first time since 6-5 less than four minutes into the contest.

Millersville, which led from a Parker layup with early in the first half until the Agurs' basket, held a 41-38 halftime lead before starting the second half by outscoring Clarion 13-7 in the first four minutes of the half.

The game Sunday concluded a three-game road swing through the PSAC East that started Dec. 20 at West Chester. The Golden Eagles were 2-1 during the swing and return home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to take on Shippensburg.

NOTES - With the victory, Clarion surpassed its win total of last year and matched its win total of 2013. The four conference wins also match the 2013 total … With wins over Cheyney Saturday and Millersville Sunday Clarion, which has won 4 of 6, swept a road PSAC Crossover weekend for the first time since beating West Chester and Millersville Dec. 3-4, 2011.
