Gabrielle Olson pounded 16 kills and 6 blocks,
Taylor Braunagel 13 kills,
Kaley Pittsley 48 assists and
Morgan Seybold 33 digs as the Golden Eagle women's volleyball team upset previously undefeated Pitt-Johnstown 3-2 in a key PSAC crossover match on Friday night at the UPJ Sportscenter.
Clarion also defeated Millersville 3-0 earlier in the day to complete its sweep on Friday. Clarion raised its record to 12-10 overall and 8-3 in the PSAC-West. UPJ dropped to 17-3 and 10-1 in the East, and Millersville dropped to 10-9 overall and 2-8 in the East.
Clarion opened the UPJ match with a 26-24 win, lost the next two sets 25-21 and 25-14, rallied to win the fourth set 25-18 and rallied from an 8-3 deficit in the fifth set and won 15-11, outscoring UPJ 12-3 down the stretch.
The opening set went right down to the wire. Tied at 24, a service error by UPJ put the Eagles in front 25-24, and then
Taylor Braunagel and
Gabrielle Olson combined on a block to win the set 26-24.
After dropping the second and third sets, Clarion came out and led the entire way in winning the fourth set. Olson and
Marissa Robertson had six kills each in the set to pave the way.
Down 8-3 in the fifth set, Clarion scored five straight points to tie the set at 8-8. With the set tied 9-9, Robertson and
Abbey Cox delivered kills to put the Eagles in front 11-9. With the score 13-11,
Gabrielle Olson posted a kill and then teamed with Braunagel again on a key block to win the set (15-11) and the match.

In the opening match Clarion swept Millersville by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19. Robertson, Braunagel and
Mackenzie Biggs had 10 kills each, while Pittsley had 35 assists and Seybold 23 digs.
Clarion travels to Lock Haven Saturday to take on Lock Haven at 12:30 and Shippensburg at 6pm.
