EVENT RESULTS SCHAFFER WINS 200 BACK/EAGLES 1-3 AT PITT INVITE
PITTSBURGH, PA.: Clarion's
Gabriella Schaffer (Jr. Reading) won the 200 yard backstroke and
Kristin Day (Reynoldsville/DuBois) was second in 3 meter diving at the prestigious Pitt Invitational on Saturday at Trees Hall helping the Golden Eagles to a 165-98 win over Cal-Pa, while also losing to Pitt (233-60), Carnegie Mellon (185-105) and Duquesne (199-87).
Schaffer won the 100 backstroke with a time of 2:06.01, besting Duquesne's Abby Watson who swam a 2:06.37.
Kristin Day Diver
Kristin Day also had quality performances on the boards, placing second on 3 meter (305.20) and fourth on 1 meter (261.95).
Other Clarion divers earning quality places were
Sarah Zerfoss (Jr. Shavertown
), Noelle Melani (Jr. South Park),
Lauren Slayton (Jr. White Lake, Mi.) and
Caitlyn Kaufman (Jr. Butler). Zerfoss was 4
th on 3 meter (263.50) and 6
th on 1 meter (230.25), Melani was 7
th on 1 meter (225.70), Slayton 6
th on 3 meter (238.75) and Kaufman 8
th on 1 meter (219.10).
In individual events in the pool,
Kelsey Slayton (Sr. White Lake, Mi.) placed 4
th in the 100 fly (59.70),
Emilee Gysegem (Sr. Warren, Oh./Lakeview) was 5
th in the 200 backstroke (2:10.26),
Summer Dacheux (Fr. Dover) was 5
th in the 1000 free (11:29.79), and
Emily Ondrizek (Jr. Gettysburg) was 7
th in the 200 fly (2:15.89).
The 200 medley relay team of
Schaffer, Gysegem, Slayton and Anna McNurlen (Sr. Washington/McGuffey) was 4
th with a time of 1:49.57. The 200 free relay of
Ondrizek, Alexis Lopez (Fr. Beaver Falls/Blackhawk), Rachel Wrotniewski (Fr. Daleville, Va.) and
McNurlen were 6
th with a time of 1:40.73.
Clarion will be participating in the PSAC Championships on Feb. 19-22 in York, Pa.
