CLARION, Pa. – Delrika Jones-Carey recorded her fifth straight double-digit game and her 12^th in the past 13 contests, but it wasn't enough as the Clarion University women's basketball team fell 79-44 to visiting Gannon Wednesday night at Tippin Gym.
 
Jones-Carey netted a team-best 12 points, all in the second half, and added three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
 
But Gannon (16-6 overall, 15-4 PSAC West) shot 50 percent (28 of 56) for the game and forced 22 Clarion turnovers, scoring 35 points off those giveaways, to get the victory.
 
Clarion (2-21, 1-17) trailed 42-19 at halftime and was never able to climb back in the game in the second half.
 
Amesha Harden-Pullium added nine points, three steals, three rebounds and two assists for the Golden Eagles, while Tania Holmes had seven points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds and tied her season high for steals.
 
Mollie Sebald led five Gannon players in double figures with 16 points, Brittany Batts and Nettie Blake each had 13, McKenna Shives chipped in 11 and Lansie Saunders had 10. Blake added seven rebounds, while Shives had five boards and Saunders four. Amanda Berchtold chipped in five helpers and two steals.
 
Clarion returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercyhurst.
 
NOTES – Clarion will hold a Cancer Awareness game Feb. 18 against Edinboro.
