                     ERIE, Pa. – The Clarion University women's basketball team seeks its first road win of the year when it travels to Mercyhurst for a 1 p.m. PSAC West matchup Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (2-21 overall, 1-17 PSAC West) are coming off a 79-44 loss to Gannon Wednesday, while Mercyhurst (8-17, 5-14) dropped an 81-59 decision to IUP Wednesday. 
This is the second meeting of the year between the teams with the Lakers taking the initial confrontation 53-41 Jan. 14 at Tippin Gym behind 12 points each from Alex Artise and Jessica Bell. 
Tania Holmes had a double-double for Clarion with 19 points and 10 rebounds. 
Holmes is the sixth-leading scorer in the PSAC at 15.2 ppg and is trying to become the highest-scoring Golden Eagle since Lizzie Suwala averaged 18.1 and Bethany Koch 16.3 in 2010. Holmes has scored in double digits in eight of her last nine games and is averaging 18.2 ppg during that span. On the year, she is third in the PSAC with 2.3 3-pointers per game and fifth in the conference in 3-point shooting at 34.2 percent. This after hitting nine 3-pointers all of last season. 
Also for Clarion, 
Delrika Jones-Carey adds 11.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and ranks 12
th in the PSAC in rebounding. 
Natalie Piaggesi leads Mercyhurst and ranks ninth in the PSAC in scorng with 14.8 ppg. She was held to nine points in the first meeting with Clarion this year. Adrienne Kloecker adds 11.8 ppg for the Lakers. 
After Saturday, Clarion returns to action with a pair of home games. The Golden Eagles host Edinboro at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in a Cancer Awareness Contest, and then Senior Day is 3 p.m. Feb. 22 against Slippery Rock.
