CLARION, Pa. – Despite a strong game two offensive performance, the Clarion University softball team was swept in a PSAC West doubleheader by visiting Edinboro Friday afternoon at Memorial Field.
The Fighting Scots won game one 7-0 and game two 9-7.
In the second game, the Golden Eagles got strong offensive performances from
Megan Anderson and
Christina Tressler.
Anderson was 3-for-4, while Tressler was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
Taylor Powell also drove home two runs while going 1-for-4, while
Ashley Barenchik and
Lydia Middaugh each drove in runs as well.
Cassie Daniels and Barenchik each scored two runs.
Shawnna Crago took the game two loss going seven innings and allowing nine runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four.
In game one,
Paige Baker was the tough-luck loser despite throwing a one hitter in six innings of work. She gave up three runs, just one earned. She did walk six but struck out five.
Chelsea Zola gave up four runs, three earned, in one inning of work.
Clarion had six hits in the game including two from Anderson.
The Golden Eagles are back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Slippery Rock on Senior Day.
