SPIKERS SWEEP CHEYNEY & WC IN PSAC PLAY

CLARION SPIKERS OPEN PSAC PLAY WITH SWEEP CHEYNEY & WEST CHESTER
 
                (Greensburg, Pa.): Clarion's Gabrielle Olson combined for 26 kills and 9 blocks and Kaley Pittsley had 52 assists as the Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team opened PSAC play on Friday by defeating Cheyney 3-0 and West Chester 3-0 in crossover matches hosted by Seton Hill.
 
                Clarion, who started the season 0-7, has rebounded with a 5 match win streak to push the season record to 5-7 and is now 2-0 in the PSAC-West. Cheney drops to 1-5 and 0-1, while West Chester is now 11-2 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC.
 
                Clarion came out smoking in the first set against Cheyney winning 25-8, then came back and won 25-10 and 25-19. Coach Jen Mills subbed freely during the match which saw Gabrielle Olson and Victoria Evans led the team with 9 kills, Leah Vensel had 21 assists, Kaley Pittsely had 11 assists, while Morgan Herold had 16 digs and Kara Coffman 8 digs.
 
                In the win over West Chester, Gabrielle Olson had a season high 17 kills, a hitting percentage of 73.9%, and contributed 7 blocks. Abbey Cox and Taylor Braunagel notched 10 kills, Pittsley 41 assists, while Morgan Herold had 11 digs and Morgan Seybold 10 digs.
 
                In the first set Clarion set the tone marching out to a 10-1 lead with 4 kills from Olson along with 3 blocks. The Eagles own the first set 25-10.
 
                In the second set Clarion again went out to a15-7 lead, but saw WC climb back into the set and narrow the margin to 20-18. Abbey Cox posted a kill and a service ace to put Clarion in front 22-18 and the Eagles went on to win 25-19.
 
                The third set was tight the entire way. With Clarion ahead 23-22, Olson finished off the night with two straight kills to win the set and the match 25-22.
 
                Clarion returns to action on Saturday at Seton Hill playing Kutztown at 12:#0pm and East Stroudsburg at 3:30pm.
