MBB LOSES IN DOUBLE-OT THRILLER AT SETON HILL

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion men's basketball team rallied from a halftime deficit and went to double-overtime, but the Golden Eagles came up just short in a marathon game, falling 97-94 to Seton Hill on Wednesday.  Clarion falls to 10-11 overall, 7-8 in Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference play with the loss.

Seton Hill led 34-29 at the halftime break but the Golden Eagles rallied to tie the score, making up a 10-point deficit in the final 4:13 of regulation to send the game to the first extra session.  They made up a two-point deficit with five seconds to play in the first overtime, with Andre' Anthony making a pair of free throws to extend play, but the Griffins scored the final four points of the second overtime to eke out the win.

Anthony scored a game-high 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including a 4-of-5 performance from three-point range.  He also contributed six rebounds and three assists.  Three other Golden Eagles finished in double-figures, including Rob Agurs, who added 15 points off the bench before fouling out.  De'Ondre Terrell finished with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot the ball well, with Clarion finishing with a 45.2 field goal percentage and Seton Hill a 53.1 percentage.  The Golden Eagles were dynamite from three-point range, going 8-of-14, and Clarion won the rebounding battle 47-37.

Seton Hill looked to have the game well in hand at the 4:13 mark of the second half, having just gone on a 12-2 run to take a 70-60 lead at the final media timeout of the game.  The Golden Eagles were having none of it, though, with Anthony cutting it to a two-possession game when his three-pointer made it 71-67.  The senior guard converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 0:46 left to cut it to 73-71, and he drained a jumper with :08 left to tie the score and send the game to overtime.

Trevor Lecuona put the Griffins ahead by three with a layup at the 1:15 mark of the first overtime, and Trevor Blondin made it 81-78 with a free throw with 0:15 left.  Tim Gill cut it to 81-80 with a layup awith 0:05 left, and Anthony sunk two free throws with just one second left on the clock to tie it at 82 and send the game to the second overtime.  The teams traded leads back and forth, but Spencer Casson put the Griffins ahead with a tip-in at the 0:31 mark and Kameron Taylor added two more free throws to close the game.

Clarion held the lead for just a few minutes in the first half, going ahead 4-2 on a Cameron Grumley jumper and retaking the lead 9-8 on a Gill layup.  From there Seton Hill took control, though, and the Griffins held the lead until Anthony tied the game at the end of regulation.
