CLARION, Pa. –
Tim Gill made what would end up being the game-winning shot with 1:58 to go in the overtime period, and the Clarion men's basketball team made a defensive stand against some of the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference's most prolific offensive players with a 74-68 overtime win over Edinboro. The win improves the Golden Eagles' record to 9-8 overall, 6-5 in PSAC play.
Clarion took a 69-66 lead in the overtime period and proceeded to strangle the life out of the Fighting Scots, holding them without a field goal make for the final 4:38 of action at Tippin Gymnasium. Edinboro did not score from the floor after their first shot of the overtime period, going 1-of-6 total in that span. Comparatively, the Golden Eagles took just three shots in overtime and made two of them, while also adding a 6-of-8 performance from the free throw line.
The Golden Eagles dominated the glass against the Fighting Scots, outrebounding them by a 47-36 mark and outscoring them 21-16 in second chance points. They were also tenacious towards opposing drivers, blocking 10 shots on the afternoon. The game was close throughout, with the lead changing hands seven times, and Edinboro led by as many as 10 points with 10:01 remaining in regulation. The Fighting Scots led for 33:02 of action while the Golden Eagles held the advantage for just 5:17, but Clarion held the lead when it counted most.

Grumley provided a major spark with 3:35 left in regulation, knocking down corner trey to cut Edinboro's lead to 61-60.
Andre' Anthony tied the game with a pair of free throws at the 1:40 mark, knotting it up at 62, but Je'Land Head put Edinboro back up with a layup at the 1:25 mark. Tommy Scales fired the opening salvo of the overtime period with a jumper to make it 66-64 but it would be the last field goal the Fighting Scots would make, as well as the last time they held the lead. Andrews took a slick cross-court feed from Gill and slashed to the hoop for an open look and a layup to tie it at 66. Gill was the recipient of good ball movement a minute later, taking a pass from Agurs on the right block and laying it in to make it 69-66 with 2:39 to play. The Golden Eagles went 5-of-6 from the free throw line the rest of the way to control the game and get the win.
