Box Score CLARION, Pa. - The Clarion university men's basketball team defeated Davis & Elkins by a final score of 86-84 Tuesday evening at Tippin Gymnasium. The win moves the Golden Eagles to 2-4 on the season. The Blue and Gold return to action December 3rd when they host Mansfield University.
Leading the charge for CU was guard
BJ Andrews, who finished with a team-high 21 points, shooting 6-12 (50%) from the field including 3-7 from beyond the three-point line. Andrews also recorded a team-high eight rebounds, while guard
Cameron Grumley led the team in assists with eight. Andrews also played a team-high 39 minutes on the evening.
The Golden Eagles got off to a rather sluggish start, struggling to find their rhythm on the floor for much of the first frame. By the time the first 20 minutes had passed, the Blue and Gold found themselves in a 45-32 hole.
Their resolves was tested in the second however. Thanks to some big three-pointers from Andrews and
Kwame Morton Jr. and some aggressive rebounding across the board, the Eagles slowly but surely clawed their way back to even with Davis & Elkins at 84 a piece with just ten seconds left to play. A steal by Grumely was able to draw a foul, and the junior managed to sink both free-throws in the games final seconds to secure a W for Clarion.
