CLARION, Pa. - The Clarion University men's basketball team defeated Mansfield by a final score of 63-71 Saturday evening at Tippin Gymnasium.  The Golden Eagles return to action Sunday afternoon when they host Lock Haven. 

Justin Grant led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points, with all fifteen points coming from behind the three point line.  He added ten rebounds and three assists on the evening.  Manny Powell showcased some dynamic passing, dishing out a team-high eight assists while grabbing four rebounds.  The Golden Eagles combined for seven blocks on the evening, four of which came from guards Cameron Grumley and Akeem Williams.  

The Golden Eagles opened up an early lead thanks in part to a big three by Grant and a couple of aggressive lay ups by Powell and Williams.  Though the shots continued to fall for the Golden Eagles, Mansfield was able to take advantage of a size discrepancy in the paint and claw back to within 11 points at the half.  

Things got a little closer in the second, as Mansfield continued to assert themselves in the key, however a pair of clutch three-pointers from Grumley and Grant gave the Blue and Gold some much needed breathing room in the games final minutes, helping Clarion stave off the Mansfield comeback to secure the victory.
