YORK, Pa. – The Clarion men's swimming and diving team finished up its first day of competition at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Thursday, finishing the opening day in fifth place. Competition will resume tomorrow morning at the York YMCA Aquatic Club.

The 200 Medley Relay team of
Travis Myers,
Ian Lindsey,
Chris Fenoglietto and
Luke Simpson netted 30 points on the day, taking fourth in the final event of the day. Simpson notched the fastest leg of the race for the quartet, anchoring the relay team with a 21.09 as the group finishing with a time of 1:35.42. They just narrowly edged out Edinboro, who finished in fifth with a time of 1:35.42.

The finish made up the bulk of the Clarion points, as the Golden Eagles ranked fifth with 51 points at the end of the day. They are within just seven points of third-place IUP.

Individually,
Nathan Porter recorded the best finish of the day, taking eighth in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:45.58. The freshman was one of five Golden Eagles in the race, with
Patrick Olivier just behind him in 12th at 9:51.50. The pair accounted for 16 of Clarion's points on Thursday.

Ian Lindsey rounded out the scoring with his finish in the 200 IM. The junior finished 12th with a time of 1:55.06 to garner five points.
