Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. – The Clarion softball team started their weekend at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament on Friday, with the Golden Eagles falling in both halves of a doubleheader in Salem. They dropped an 18-0 decision to 13th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan in the early game and 7-2 to Le Moyne in the second.
Christina Tressler went 4-of-5 combined in the two games, including a 3-of-3 performance in the nightcap against the Dolphins. She drove in the Golden Eagles' two runs in the contest with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning, plating
Paige Baker. She also had one of just three hits against the Bobcats, going 1-of-2 in the loss.
Baker had a solid game against the Dolphins in her own right, going 2-of-3 at the plate with a run scored.
Cassie Daniels and
Taylor Nonnenberg each had a hit apiece against Le Moyne. Baker and
Casey Wilcox each got a hit against the Bobcats in the early game.
Kira Smith got the start against West Virginia Wesleyan and allowed seven runs in two innings, taking the loss.
Sarah Gossard threw three innings of against the Bobcats.
Rachel Hoffman took the circle against the Dolphins in the nightcap and tossed five innings, giving up five runs in the loss. Smith came on for a scoreless inning of relief to close the game.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday with another doubleheader. They'll take on Davis & Elkins in the early game at noon and will close against East Stroudsburg at 4 p.m.
