Women's Soccer Falls to #4 East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion women's soccer team played the #4 team in the nation to a draw for a half, but the Golden Eagles were unable to hold off the reigning PSAC champions in falling 3-0 at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.  Clarion (2-6-1, 2-5-1 PSAC) will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Malone.

The Golden Eagles shut out the fourth-ranked team in the nation through the first 45 minutes of play, keeping the team that entered with 14 goals on the year off the board thanks to six saves from goalkeeper Krista Mosi.  Stephanie Lias recorded the lone shot on net against Warriors keeper Jules Harris in the 21st minute of action.

The Warriors broke through in the first minute of the second half, though, scoring 38 seconds in off the head of Alex Pickett, who redirected a free kick from Shea Neal.  Pickett added another tally less than five minutes later to make it 2-0, and Laurel Neira provided the final score of the day with a header in the 65th minute.

Marina Kelly very nearly responded to Pickett's first goal of the afternoon, putting a shot on Harris that needed to be saved, and Aaliyah Odom fired another that Harris needed to make a play on in the 52nd minute.
