INDIANA, Pa. – The Clarion women's soccer team struck first on the road but were unable to hold off a rebound effort against IUP, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 2-1 decision to the Crimson Hawks on Saturday. Clarion (0-2-0) will return home to host Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday after opening the season with two straight road contests.
Â
Marina Kelly scored her first goal of the year early in the second half, taking a pass from
Carlee Freeberg and putting it past IUP's keeper Jessica Printz in the 47th minute.Â
Aaliyah Odom tallied the only other shot on net for the Golden Eagles, forcing Printz to make a save in the early moments of the first half.

The Golden Eagles shut out the Crimson Hawks in the first half thanks to four saves by goalkeeper
Krista Mosi, who kept Clarion in the bout throughout the afternoon. IUP put five shots on net in the second half, though, eventually striking twice late to take the win.
