LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Clarion wrestling team started strong on the road but was unable to ride the momentum, falling by a score of 25-11 to Rider at Alumni Gym on Thursday. Clarion (1-6) will begin a four-match homestand on Sunday when they host Hofstra and West Liberty in a tri-meet at Tippin Gymnasium.

Brock Zacherl was dominant in the opening match of the night, notching his third straight bonus-points victory to improve 13-2 overall on the season. Zacherl cruised past Evan Fidelibus in the 141-pound match, defeating him by technical fall by a score of 19-4. It is the third time this season Zacherl has recorded a win by technical fall, and the redshirt sophomore remains undefeated in dual matches with a 7-0 record.

Dom Rigous came up with a close win by decision at 174 pounds, his third win in his last four matches. Rigous held off Wayne Stinson by a score of 3-2 to score three points for Clarion. Jake Gromacki provided the other scoring on the night, winning by an identical score over J.R. Wert at 125 pounds.

Clarion took the early lead on the Broncs but could not add on, falling behind 7-6 after BJ Clagon defeating
Taylor Cahill in the 157-pound match. Rigous cut the lead to 13-8 with his win, but the Broncs won the next three bouts to make it 22-8 and ensure the win.
