Soccer ties East Stroudsburg 0-0 on senior night

CLARION, PA – The Clarion women's soccer team closed their historic 2017 season Saturday night, playing East Stroudsburg to a 0-0 tie.

On a cold and rainy evening at Memorial Stadium, Clarion honored their nine seniors prior to the game. These nine seniors helped Clarion soccer set numerous records, including a new mark for PSAC wins with 5, along with matching the program record for wins in a season with 6.

The Golden Eagles close 2017 with an overall record of 6-7-5 and 5-6-5 in the PSAC.

On Saturday night, both teams played a great defensive contest, highlighted for Clarion with Krista Mosi making 12 saves in net, playing all 110 minutes.

The backline for Clarion, anchored by seniors Marina Kelly and Jess Kenny, kept the Warriors off the scoreboard all night, and finished 2017 as arguably the most consistent defensive unit in the PSAC.

McKenzie Sheesley and Kenny each recorded a shot on goal for Clarion.

Clarion finishes 2017 with a program record nine overtime contests.

Coach Esterhuizen's squad will look to build on this season's success as they plan ahead for 2018.
