MILLERSVILLE, Pa - Clarion Volleyball handled the Millersville Marauders on the road in four sets Saturday afternoon in PSAC action, winning 3-1.
The Golden Eagles keep pace in the playoff hunt moving to 18-8 overall and 9-4 in the PSAC while the Marauders drop to 15-8 and 6-7 PSAC.
Clarion trailed late in the first set, but rallied back on a 6-1 run to close out the first set 25-23. After winning the second set 25-18, the Golden Eagles were unable to close out the Marauders in the third, falling 18-25, pushing play to a fourth set. Coach Herron's squad would regroup and put away Millersville in the fourth set, 25-18.
Taylor Braunagel posted 20+ kills for the second straight match, with 23 on Saturday, giving her 47 kills over the weekend.
Julia Holden was also solid on the Clarion attack, finishing with 17 kills on the day. The Golden Eagles dominated the front line, holding a 10-2 advantage in blocks, led by
Olivia Olson with 7, while Holden and
Jessica Samuels chipped in with 4 and 3 blocks, respectively.
Leah Vensel set the Clarion attack, recording 49 assists on the afternoon.
The Golden Eagles currently sit in third place in the Southwest Division, just a game behind IUP and two games behind Seton Hill with 5 matches left on the schedule.
Four of those five remaining contests will be played at home in the friendly confines of Tippin Gymnasium. Clarion will welcome Pitt-Johnstown to campus next Friday, November 3
rd, for a 7pm contest in Tippin.
