WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Clarion men's basketball team captured their first victory of the 2017-18 season, defeating Fayetteville State 81-76 on Saturday night.
Clarion finishes their trip to Winston-Salem going 1-1 on the weekend.
On Saturday, it was Clarion's duo of Khari Williams and
Cameron Grumley leading the way, each recording double-digit scoring efforts.
Williams was the leading scorer for the Golden Eagles, netting 18 points on a very efficient 6 of 11 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds.
Grumley added 16 points of his own while also grabbing 5 boards and picking up 3 steals.
Clarion shot 43% from the floor converting 28 of 65 attempts. Neither team shot particularly well from three point range, as the Golden Eagles were just 6 of 25 but did convert 19 of 25 free throw attempts on the night.
Clarion will play its home opener Wednesday evening when they welcome Penn State Greater Allegheny to Tippin Gymnasium for 7pm tip.
