INDIANA, Pa. – It came down all the way down to the wire on Saturday afternoon, but the Clarion men's swimming team pulled off an exciting 106-99 dual meet victory over IUP at Pidgeon Natatorium. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-3 in dual meets on the season as they head into their winter training session.

Entering the final event on Saturday, IUP led Clarion by a score of 95-93, with only the 200 Free Relay remaining on the docket. The Golden Eagle foursome of
Tate Swanson, Nate Luey,
Hayden Steiner and
Nathan Porter pulled off the thrilling win to clinch the meet victory, finishing in 1:29.49 and besting the Crimson Hawks by more than a full second. The "B" team of Drew Canter,
James Godshall,
Aaron Cooper and Frank Bevevino took third place to set the final point margin.

The Crimson Hawks struck first by winning the 200 Medley Relay, but the pair of Porter and Canter finished 1-2 in the 1000 Free to put Clarion right back in the meet. Porter claimed the race win by a figurative mile, finishing in 9:58.21, while Canter came in second with a time of 10:21.68.Â
Joseph Folz followed that up with a win of his own, pacing the field in the 200 Free with a time of 1:45.81. He also claimed a win in the 100 Free, posting a time of 47.53.

Ben Spencer won the 200 IM by a fairly large margin, finishing with a time of 1:56.82 that was nearly eight seconds faster than IUP's Robert Jones. The senior also added a win in the 100 Back, touching the wall in 53.02 to lead the field.Â
Porter and Canter again finished 1-2 in an event, this time the 500 Free, setting the stage for the exciting conclusion in the relay.
