MBB routs Carlow at home 98-55

CLARION, Pa., -  The Clarion University men's basketball team defeated Carlow University at home by a final score of 98-55 Wednesday evening at Tippin Gymnasium.  The win moves the Golden Eagles to 6-17 (3-14 PSAC) on the season.  The Blue and Gold will return to action Saturday evening when they host the Gannon Golden Knights at Tippin.

The game featured an outpouring of offense for Clarion, who finished with five separate players scoring in double figures.  Jamani Pierce led the way with a team-high 29 points.  Jamal Bailey finished with a team-leading 12 rebounds to go with his ten points, while BJ Andrews ended the game leading all Golden Eagles in assists with five. The Blue and Gold shot 58.2% from the field on the evening, including 7-22 (31.8%) from beyond the three-point arc.

Right from the game's opening jump ball, it was evident that CU was more than eager to end it's prolonged losing streak by any means necessary.  A 15-0 Eagles run to open the first half was sparked when RS freshman Kwame Morton Jr. knocked down a three-pointer just 30 seconds into play.  Morton jr., who made his first start of the season for Clarion, finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Although Carlow would try it's best to regain momentum, CU managed to keep their foot on the gas throughout all 40 minutes.  Utilizing their blazing speed, Clarion's transition game was too much for the Celtics to deal with, as the Blue and Gold outscored Carlow 18-0 off the fast break.  Coupled with a dominating 51-31 advantage on rebounds, the Golden Eagles throughout controlled just about every aspect of play throughout the duration of the game.

Capped off with a pair of huge second-half dunks from Morton Jr. and Bailey, Clarion cruised to it's sixth victory of the season and it's first one in Tippin since December 10th.
