BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion softball team dropped a pair of PSAC Central games on Saturday, falling in both ends of a doubleheader at Bloomsburg by identical 8-0 scores. The Golden Eagles (5-32, 1-13 PSAC Central) will host Slippery Rock in a non-conference twinbill on Wednesday.

Casey Wilcox went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk in the first game, while freshman
Haley Pszyk contributed a 2-for-3 day in the second game.Â
Aryn Boyer,
Autumn Babcock and
Laura Sadowski also added hits on the afternoon.Â

Kira Smith (0-7) suffered the loss in the early game, allowing five runs in 4.0 innings pitched.Â
Rachel Hoffman (4-10) took the loss in the late game with seven runs allowed in 5.0 innings.Â
Macy Rubin and
Paige Baker entered in relief in the first and second games, respectively.

Wilcox gave Clarion their best chance to score in the first game, stroking a leadoff double down the left field line in the top of the fourth inning.Â
Brigid Stermel advanced her to third with a well-placed sacrifice bunt, but
Cassidy Runyan struck out to end the threat. Runyan herself reached scoring position in the second inning with a one-out walk and a sac bunt from Pszyk, but Smith struck out with two outs to end the frame. Bloomsburg led 4-0 after the first inning and held on to that advantage, winning the game after six innings of play.

In the second game, one of the best scoring opportunities for Clarion came in the top of the third inning.Â
Autumn Babcock singled through the left side of the infield to lead off, and pinch runner
Audrey Hummell eventually reached third on a sacrifice bunt by Pszyk. Wilcox flied out to right field to end the inning.Â

Clarion later loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth inning while trailing 7-0, but were unable to score. Pszyk hit a leadoff single and later advanced to second base after Wilcox reached via error.Â
Taylor Nonnenberg also reached on an error by the first baseman, giving the Golden Eagles three on base for Baker. Baker popped up to the catcher to end the threat.
