LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sophomore
Meliah Roman launched a ball to the far post as time was winding down, beating the goalkeeper with just one second remaining to lift Clarion to a 2-1 victory at Lock Haven on Saturday. It is the Golden Eagles' (1-1-0) first road PSAC win since a 3-0 decision over the Bald Eagles on Oct. 2, 2015 and their first win of the 2017 season.
Â
Lock Haven had erased the Golden Eagles' 1-0 lead late in the second half when Jordan Shoff collected a rebound off
Krista Mosi and pushed the second opportunity back behind her for the equalizer. After a yellow card to Clarion's
Marina Kelly stopped with the clock with just 12 seconds of regulation remaining, Roman split the deadlock with her first goal of the season.
Erin Rodgers played the ball in deep, splitting the defense and slipping past them towards Roman. With time winding down, Roman buried the clincher behind keeper Bree Hilty, putting the shot to the far post to power Clarion to the regulation win.
Â
Kelly was the first to strike in this one, breaking a scoreless tie that lasted until the 64th minute.  She scored direct off a corner kick to make it 1-0, with
Julianna Iocco getting the assist and her first collegiate point. On the other side of the field, Mosi played a strong game, turning away six Bald Eagle shots. Clarion totaled seven shots on net in the game, with Iocco,
Dani McNally,
Veronika Noyszewski and
Rachel Giannangeli all tallying shots in addition to the two goal scorers.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they host Mercyhurst at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
