SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion women's tennis team dominated their way to a road victory on Wednesday, defeating the Shippensburg Raiders by an 8-1 score. The Golden Eagles (2-1) carry a winning record into this weekend's PSAC Singles/Doubles Championship hosted by Bloomsburg.

Clarion started the day with a clean sweep in doubles action, and the No. 1 team of
Alivia Arnold and
Maria Snyder contributed by posting a sweep of their own. They defeated the duo of Catherine Miller and Gabbie Binder by an 8-0 score in the pro set.Â
Katie Benson and
Bailey White had a much tougher challenge, but they held off Maddie Carson and Kaylie Gallagher for an 8-5 decision.

The closest doubles match of the day came in the No. 3 match, where
Michelle Petrilla and
Hailey Germanoski won in a tiebreaker. They defeated Daisy Rundio and Hannah Coath 7-3 in the breaker to take the 9-8 (3) set.

In singles action, Arnold downed Miller 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match, while Snyder did not allow Binder a game in winning the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0. White earned a straight-sets victory over Carson, Benson defeated Gallagher 6-2, 6-2, and Petrilla closed out the Clarion scoring with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 match.
