EDINBORO, Pa. – Four different players scored in double digits for Clarion but the Golden Eagles were upended by Edinboro University Wednesday night, 86-73.
Clarion was led by senior
Cameron Grumley who had a team-high 24 points along with 8 rebounds. Grumley knocked down 4 three-pointers and was 4 of 4 from the free throw line on the night.
The Golden Eagles got solid contributions from a trio of freshman, highlighted by
Mason Mraz, who recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and a new career-high 12 rebounds.
Fellow freshmen
Maqi Watson and
Khari Williams also scored in double-digits, registering 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Golden Eagles.
Clarion shot 42% from the floor on the night and converted 7 of 23 attempts from three-point range. Edinboro was 47% from the floor and Clarion's perimeter defense limited the Fighting Scots to just 4 of 22 from three-point range (18%).
Edinboro's Keshawn Liggins recorded a game-high 36 points on 16 of 22 shooting, while Anthony Coleman added 24 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Fighting Scots.
Clarion now sits at 3-15 and 0-12 in the PSAC while Edinboro improves to 11-5, 8-4 PSAC.
The Golden Eagles will travel to IUP this Saturday for a PSAC contest before returning to Clarion for three consecutive home games.
Tip-off against IUP is set for 7:30pm in the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.
