MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Clarion volleyball team saw their three-match win streak snapped on Friday, falling 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 20-25) to Millersville on the road. The Golden Eagles (18-9, 9-5 PSAC) will try to salvage a split on the weekend when they face off against West Chester tomorrow.

Lauryn Driscoll had a team-high 12 kills and committed just three errors on 25 swings for a .360 hitting percentage. That paced the rest of the Golden Eagles, as the team managed just a.068 hitting percentage for the match.Â
Chrissy Cotton recorded a match-high 20 digs in the loss.

The first set started out tight before the Marauders opened up an 8-4 advantage, but Driscoll stopped the bleeding with a kill and an error by Millersville pulled Clarion to within 8-6. It got no closer the rest of the set, though, as Millersville scored five straight to make it 13-6, and eventually took a 20-12 lead. Two consecutive errors by the Golden Eagles gave the Marauders the 25-15 win.

Millersville carried the momentum into the second set, opening the game on an 8-2 run. The closest Clarion came was 13-9, when
Julia Holden took a set from
Leah Vensel and ripped it for a kill. The Marauders pulled away again, taking a 16-10 advantage on a kill and forcing a Clarion timeout. Holden again cut the deficit to four points, making it 23-19 with a kill, but the Marauders scored twice to close the set.Â

Another big run set Millersville towards victory in the third set, but the Golden Eagles rallied and pulled to within two points late. Holden notched a kill to cut the lead to 21-19, and two points later Driscoll added one to make it 22-20, but Millersville scored three straight to end the match.
