SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion women's swimming team dominated on Friday evening, defeating Shippensburg 112-93 in a dual meet on the road.
It was all Clarion from the word jump, as the Golden Eagles took the top two spots in the 200 Medley Relay to open the match. The quartet of
Ava Arnold,
Michelle Morrisey,
Autumn Fortney and
Gabi Wayne raced out to a 1:52.75 finish to seal Clarion's first win of the night.
Mary Clare Smith followed that up with an impressive win in the 1000 Free, edging Shippensburg's Olivia Guthy by 8 seconds en route to the first place finish.
Ava Arnold followed that up with a win in the 200 IM, cruising to a 2:17.62 finish and nine team points.
The Raiders claimed the next several events to pull tighter, but
Candice Chalus and Smith went 1-2 in the 200 Breaststroke to put their team back on track. The 200 Free Relay team closed out the night with a win, as the grouping of
Morgan Manglaviti,
Kelsey Burke,
Abbey Newman and Becca Yonek finished the relay in 1:40.75.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Bloomsburg on November 9
th, to compete in a dual meet against the Huskies.
