RESULTS:
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Mary Clare Smith won two individual events as the Golden Eagle women's swimming team fell 116-88 to Bloomsburg. Clarion (2-0) will have the full team in action at the Zippy Invitational hosted by Akron starting November 30
th.
Smith picked up her first victory in the 1000 Free, pacing the field to collect nine team points in the event. Smith finished almost 7 seconds ahead of Bloomsburg's Chelsea Ackerson, finishing in PSAC - qualifying time of 10:55.21 to top her opponents time of 11:02.66. She would pick up her second victory later in the meet during the 200 Breaststroke, finishing with a final time of 2:30.55.
The Golden Eagles would pick up 16 team points in the 200 Butterfly, with
Danielle Jellison leading the field. Jellison finished the race with a final time of 2:22.62.
Raena Valli and
Kelly Harvey finished with times of 2:23.09 and 2:28.13 respectively.
Other Golden Eagles to record strong performances included
Letizia Collini and
Gabi Wayne, who both recorded PSAC - qualifying times of 25.40 and a 25.49 in the 50 Free. Collini, Wayne and
Morgan Manglaviti also qualified in the 100 Free.
Ava Arnold finished third in the 400 IM, picking up 3 team points and finishing with a PSAC - qualifying time of 4:56.98.
