KENT, Ohio – The Clarion women's basketball team played their final game in the 2018 calendar year on Monday, falling 92-38 to Division I Kent State in an exhibition game at the M.A.C. Center in a noon tilt. The Golden Eagles will resume conference action this week when they take on Pitt-Johnstown.
The Golden Flashes limited Clarion to just a 25.5 field goal percentage, though the Golden Eagles were effective from three-point range. Sophomore point guard
Yndiah Bobo added 10 points and five assists, while
Kadijah Dickson posted team-highs with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Kent State opened up a 26-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter, with
Emily Hegedus knocking down a three-pointer late in the period. Things were tighter in the second as the teams started trading buckets late, starting with a fastbreak layup by Bobo with 1:35 left. Bobo made a midrange jumper with 1:07 left in the half, and Dickson made another at the 0:35 mark before the Golden Flashes set the halftime deficit at 49-18.
The lead expanded in the third quarter, but things once again evened up a bit in the fourth.
Haille Hart converted an and-one on a jumper less than two minutes into the period, and Dickson added a close-range J at the 6:49 mark.
Taylor Moltz and
Neely Whitehead knocked down three-pointers, but the Golden Flashes finished off the game for a 92-38 victory.
