HILTON HEAD ISLAND – The Clarion women's tennis team completed the second match of its spring break trip on Wednesday, falling by a 6-3 score to Fairmont State. The Golden Eagles (3-4) resumes action early tomorrow morning against East Stroudsburg.
Michelle Petrilla went 2-0 on Wednesday, starting the day with a win in the No. 3 doubles match. She teamed with
Hailey Germanoski to defeat the pair of Kate Lauerman and Bailey Edeburn by a score of 8-5. She went on to come back from a one-set deficit in the No. 5 singles match, falling by a 6-0 score in the first set but responding with the mirror image in the second. She then held off Hayley Hatfield in the third set, beating her 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
Also claiming a win in singles action was
Katie Benson, who was able to get past Edeburn in the No. 4 singles match in straight sets. Benson won the first set by a 6-3 score and then shut Edeburn out in the second, winning 6-0.
