Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Clarion softball team concluded its Florida trip with a split on Friday, falling 11-6 to Wayne State and defeating Salem International 8-6 on the final day of the PFX Spring Games.

Macy Rubin got the win in the late game for Clarion, her first of the season.Â
Jessica Cartia went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI's and a run scored, and
Moriah Lynn added her own 1-for-3, two-RBI performance at the dish.Â

The Golden Eagles exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third inning, starting when
Haley Pszyk reached on an error at first base. After
Aryn Boyer sacrificed her over to second,
Taylor Nonnenberg drew a two-out walk. Cartia, Lynn and
Cassidy Runyan hit consecutive doubles to clear the bases, putting Clarion in the driver's seat with a five-run advantage.

Pszyk got things going in the fourth as well, leading off by reaching on an error. Nonnenberg drove her in with a two-out single to make it 6-0. The Tigers pulled to within 6-4 with a big sixth inning but Else and Cartia drove in runs in the bottom of the inning to add some extra insurance, and eventually seal the win.

In the early game against the Warriors, Lynn went 1-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored, while
Laura Sadowski and
Rebecca Kelley also drove in runs. Sadowski took the loss, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing all 11 runs. The Golden Eagles and Warriors were tied at 6-6 entering the sixth inning, courtesy of a pair of three-run innings by Clarion, but Wayne State went off for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win.
