CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion women's tennis team played the penultimate PSAC West match of the year on Saturday, falling by a 9-0 score to Mercyhurst at Campbell Courts. The Golden Eagles are scheduled to close out conference play against California (Pa.) on Monday.
The day started with three doubles wins for the Lakers, with
Vinisha Reddy and
Katie Benson falling in the No. 2 doubles match to open the session.
Alivia Arnold and
Maria Snyder battled but could not overcome Mercyhurst's top doubles pairing in falling 8-2 in the No. 1 match.
Athina Tsagkaraki opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Hailey Germanoski in the No. 6 match, and Arnold dropped the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-0 as the Lakers clinched the overall team win. The final singles match to come off the court featured Reddy and Adrianna Jeffress in the No. 3 match, with Jeffress taking a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
