Clarion, Pa. – A second half surge by Lock Haven broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Bald Eagles over the Clarion women's soccer team by a final score of 3-1, Saturday evening.
Clarion, playing in their home opener, got the scoring started in the 16
th minute when freshman
Mackenzie Sheldon put home a loose ball for her first career goal to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
The Bald Eagles responded with a goal by Marah Foltz in the 21
st minute to even things up at 1-1.
Lock Haven nearly took the lead before halftime when a Clarion foul inside the box resulted in a penalty kick. Clarion senior goalkeeper
Krista Mosi came up with a big save to keep the score even heading to halftime.
The Bald Eagles netted a pair of second half goals to take a 3-1 lead and their defense made it hold up, as they picked up the road victory.
Lock Haven stayed on the attack the majority of the game, recording 23 shots to only four from Clarion. Mosi recorded 11 saves in net for Clarion while Sheldon's goal resulted in one of two shots on net for the Golden Eagles.
Clarion will host West Chester next Saturday, Sept 8
th for a 1pm kickoff at Memorial Stadium.
