CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion tennis team won their second straight shutout on Saturday morning, defeating Thiel 7-0 at Campbell Courts in their first and only home action of the fall. The Golden Eagles swept the doubles session and all six singles matches for the victory.

There were a number of close bouts in the doubles session, including an 8-5 nailbiter in the No. 2 match with
Kali Aughenbaugh and
Hannah Schettler. The Clarion duo dispatched Allyson Stanley and Amelia Mutinelli for the victory, and
Hailey Germanoski and
Sarah Kirmeyer won a close victory in the No. 3 doubles match.Â
Alexis Strouse and
Katie Benson the No. 1 doubles match by a relatively large margin, beating Natalie Zgurich and Angela Campbell 8-3.

Strouse continued to excel in the singles session, not giving up a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Zgurich at No. 1 singles. Benson followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Campbell, and Aughenbaugh downed Stanley in straight sets in the No. 3 singles match. Schettler beat Taylor Ranegar 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, and Germanoski and Kirmeyer completed the shutout with straight sets wins in the Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches.
