GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Golden Eagle volleyball team fell in their final road match of the season on Saturday, dropping a 3-0 (19-25, 23-25, 16-25) decision to Seton Hill at the McKenna Center. Clarion (17-10, 9-6 PSAC) will close their regular season next week with three straight home matches, starting with Slippery Rock on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles and Griffins played it tight over the course of two sets, with Seton Hill edging Clarion in both before running away with the third set. The Griffins held a slight edge in team blocks but controlled action on the serve, acing the Golden Eagles eight times.

Julia Holden led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills, followed by eight apiece for
Holly Pittman and
Lydia Leiner.Â
Chrissy Cotton posted a match-high 16 digs, while
Alexa Cundy posted a double-double of 35 assists and 12 digs.

Seton Hill held a close lead at the beginning of the first half, with Holden cutting their advantage to 15-13 with a kill. The Griffins scored four straight points to up their lead to 19-13, though, and held on for the 25-19 victory. Clarion's best opportunity for a set win came in the second when they went blow-for-blow with the Griffins, starting by taking an 8-7 lead after a kill by Leiner. The Golden Eagles won the race to 15 with a kill by Leiner, and pulled even at 20-20 thanks to a block by Leiner and
Lauren Aichinger. Leiner again tied the score, recording a kill at 23-23, but the Griffins scored two straight points to take the 25-23 set win.

The Griffins took full control in the third set, opening up a 17-9 lead on a Clarion error. The lead reached double-digits with an attack error by Holden, and Seton Hill forced set point with a kill by Viktoria Farian. Bobbi Rempe ended the set and the match with a kill.
