Game Recap: Basketball (Women's) |

WBB Defeated at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. – Kadijah Dickson recorded her team-leading eighth double-double of the season, but it was not enough to put the Golden Eagles over the Fighting Scots as Edinboro defeated Clarion 88-69 at McComb Fieldhouse.  Clarion (9-17, 3-16 PSAC) will close the season next week with back-to-back home games, starting with a game against Gannon on Wednesday evening.

Dickson had the team highs with 16 points and 10 rebounds, leading a Golden Eagle effort on the glass that saw them out-rebound the Fighting Scots 34-31.  Yasmin Lewis had another strong rebounding day with 13 points and six boards, and Emily Hegedus tied her season- and career-high with 13 points on the afternoon.

Turnovers proved to be costly as Clarion gave the ball away 17 times on Saturday, compared to just seven takeaways.  Edinboro turned that into 25 points off turnovers, making up for the Golden Eagles' advantage in free throw shooting.

The Golden Eagles actually jumped out to the early lead over the Fighting Scots, scoring four straight points to go ahead 4-3 on a make by Dickson.  The advantage was short-lived as Ciara Rosten scored on the next trip down the floor, and Edinboro eventually built up a 15-point lead at the end of the first quarter.  Lillian Young capped the run with a jumper as the clock wound to its final second, making it 26-11.

Edinboro's lead increased to more than 20 points in the second quarter, and the Fighting Scots held a 50-23 lead at the halftime break.  Clarion cut into the advantage somewhat in the fourth quarter, pulling to within 81-65 on a three-pointer by Taylor Moltz at the 3:59 mark.  Lewis pushed the lead under 20 points for the final score, scoring a fast break bucket with 14 seconds left to wrap the game.
