GLENVILLE, WV – Playing on a brisk and rainy Friday evening, the Clarion University baseball team fell to Concord University late in the ballgame by a final score of 11-7 on the second day of the PSAC / Mountain East Challenge at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.

The Golden Eagles got the scoring started in the top of the third inning, when
Nick Fugh doubled to center field scoring
Chandler Palyas. The very next at bat
Alex Ficorilli would single to left field scoring Fugh to give the boys in blue a 2-0 lead. Ficorilli would reach on an error in the top of the fifth that would score Fugh and
Ben Barth and put Clarion on top 4-0.

However, the Mountain Lions would rally in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring nine of their 11 runs on the night taking the lead back and ultimately the game. Concord would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the scoring for the night.

Clarion wouldn't go away quietly though threating to battle back in the top of the eighth and ninth innings scoring 3 runs, kick started by a
Chandler Palyas triple in the eighth. A double from
Bryce Jackson scoring Ficorilli from first and a single from
Brian Casper scoring Jackson would cap the night off for the Blue and Gold.

Clarion collected 11 hits in the high scoring affair. Palyas, Barth, Jackson and Fugh all had multiple hits at the plate. Palyas led the way going 2-3 with one RBI and one walk.
Kyle Thompson got the nod on the bump, hurling an impressive 5.1 innings, striking out eight Concord hitters.

The Golden Eagles will be looking to bounce back tomorrow evening when they conclude their three game road stint against West Liberty University. First pitch is set for 7:15 pm.
