Men's Hoops Slay Vulcans on Senior Day

CLARION, Pa. – Scoring the most points in the Student Rec Center to date, the Clarion men's basketball team won 90-78 against the visiting Cal U Vulcans on Saturday afternoon ending their 2018-19 season 6-20 on the year and 4-17 in PSAC play .
 
Prior to the game Clarion recognized its two seniors, RJ Laugand and Brandon Williams, playing in their final game at home, and also the final home game in the Student Rec Center.
 
It was all Clarion from the start, building a lead as big as nine heading into the half beating the Vulcans 44-35. Lawrence Lemon scored 12 of his team high 22 in the first half, knocking down five of six, while grabbing six boards. Khari Williams paced the offense in the first half scoring a team high 15 points on six of 11 shooting, getting the Blue and Gold off and running.
 
Clarion shot an impressive 50% from the floor in the first half and out rebounded the Vulcans 21-16 on the glass.
 
Clarion picked up in the second half much like they finished the first half, taking any thoughts of a comeback out of the gym for the Vulcans. At the 5:06 senior Brandon Williams knocked down a three pointer to build the Golden Eagle lead to 10, 81-71, and they never looked back from there. B. Williams finished the game with 11 points on five of eight shooting, grabbing four defensive rebounds, while fellow senior RJ Laugand finished the afternoon with six points.
 
Lemon finished the night with a team high 22 points and 10 rebounds, while junior guard Elijah Cottrill added 14 points and five rebounds. Javontay Pipkin was one point and one assist away from a double-double, scoring nine points, while dishing of nine assists.
 
Redshirt-freshman Kass Taylor had a positive impact while on the floor for the Golden Eagles shooting 50% from the floor, adding six points off of the bench in 10 minutes of action.
 
On the afternoon the Golden Eagles shot 53% from the floor, out rebounding the Vulcans 42-33.
 
For Cal U Collin MacAdams paved the way scoring a game high 29 points in 40 minutes of work.
