JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Clarion softball team dropped a pair of close decisions on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-1 and 9-1 in both ends of a doubleheader to the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats.  The Golden Eagles (0-25, 0-2 PSAC Central) will resume conference play on Monday when they host IUP.
 
Rebecca Kelley launched a solo home run in the first game, her second of the season, to pull Clarion to within 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning.  
Jessica Cartia added an RBI in the second game, lifting a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to pull within 5-1.  
Makenzie Wolfe was the only Golden Eagles to record multiple hits on Saturday, going 2-for-5 at the dish overall.
 
The Mountain Cats scored three runs in the first inning of the first game, touching up 
Macy Rubin (0-9) with a two-run single that made it 3-0.  Lauren Gohacki made it 4-0 in the third inning with an RBI groundout to shortstop, but Kelley responded by launching a 1-2 pitch deep over the left-center fence to make it 4-1.  Kristie Radvan added an RBI double in the home half of the inning to put a little distance between the Golden Eagles and Mountain Cats, and Kristen Coffay threw three more scoreless innings to take the win.
 
Radvan struck again in the second game, driving in a run on a bases-loaded walk against 
Kira Smith (0-5) to spark a two-run first inning.  The Mountain Cats led 5-1 until Cartia sac fly in the fourth inning, scoring Wolfe on a flyout.  Pitt-Johnstown added three runs in the bottom of the fourth and tacked on an RBI double from Jade Stubblefield in the fifth to end game after five innings.
