CLARION, Pa. - Â Making their season debut at their home nest of Tippin Natatorium on Saturday afternoon, the Clarion men's swimming team fell to the visiting IUP Crimson Hawks by a final score of 127-72. The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 0-1 on the young season.Â
Looking to rebound, the blue and gold will be back in action on Saturday, February 6th when they host the Gannon Golden Knights. Divers will start the meet at 12 pm, while the swimmers will make a splash at 2 pm.Â
To start the morning Jordan Morret took to the 1M and 3M dives scoring a 197.15 in the 1M dive and a 218.45, good enough for 18 team points.Â
The 200 Medley Relay team of Corey Mock, Nolan Songer, Jimmy Connor and Jacob Yant got the scoring started for Clarion, picking up a second place finish and four team points with a final time of 1:42.78.
Joe Folz followed that up with a second place finish just a few events later in the 200 Free when he touched the wall with a final mark of 1:50.86, good enough for four team points.Â
Just one event later, Yant picked up the best finish of the day in the 100 Fly, picking up nine team points when he raced to a 22.70 finish as the Golden Eagle tried to remain within striking distance of the Crimson Hawks.Â
Folz did his part to add to the scoring picking up a second place finish in the 100 Free touching the wall with a final time of 49.86, while just one event later Mock took second in the 100 Back with a final time of 55.73 and four team points.
The 200 Free Relay team of Bobby Shotts, Folz, Mock and Devon Lonergan finished the day with a second place finish touching the wall with a final mark of 1:36.70.
