EDINBORO, Pa. - Taking a trip north for a matchup against the Edinboro Fighting Scots, the Clarion Men's Swimming found themselves victorious with a 107-90 decision on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Golden Eagles to 1-2 overall on the season, while Edinboro falls to 0-1 on the young season.Â
A standing tradition, the Golden Eagles and Fighting Scots celebrated Senior Day and the blue and gold wasted no time setting the pace of the meet. The 200 Medley Relay team of Corey Mock, Nolan Songer, Hayden Steiner and Jimmy Connor raced to a second place finish with a final time of 1:45.25 and four team points.Â
Grabbing first place victories in the next two events were Ty Rabenstein and Connor Cary picking up nine team points each. Rabeinstein paced the field with a final time of 10:14.26 in the 1000 free, while Cary touched the wall with a final mark of 1:47.34 in the 200 Free.Â
FULL RESULTS:
Cary found himself in the winners circle once again in the 200 IM finishing with a final time 2:08.76, almost three seconds ahead of Edinboro's Mike Kocher. Building off the first place finish in the 200 IM, Cary grabbed first in the 100 Fly with a final mark of 52.40.
Jacob Yant picked up a first place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 22.62 and a second place finish in the 100 Free with a mark of 50.42.
Racking up multiple second place finishes throughout the day, the blue and gold picked up second place finishes in the 200 Free with Joseph Folz touching the wall in a time of 1:48.26, while Mock finished second in the 100 Back with a time of 56.08 and second in the 100 Free with a time of 56.10.
Continuing to build on his distance performances from last week Rabenstein picked up another first place finish in the 500 Free, pacing the field with a final time of 5:04.96.Â
Finishing off the afternoon was the 200 Free Relay team of Folz, Trent Napholz, Rabenstein and Yant who took second place and four team points.Â
The Golden Eagles will look to build on this performance when they make their return to the pool on February 27, when they compete in the Central Pennsylvania Invite.
