CLARION, Pa. – The Golden Eagle men's swimming & diving team sent their seniors off on a high note Friday night, defeating Edinboro 149 – 46 in the final home dual of the season. Clarion finishes the dual season with a 5-0 record, including a 4-0 mark against PSAC opponents.
From the first event the Golden Eagles were off and running, cruising to a win in the 200 Medley Relay with an impressive margin of victory.
Bobby Shotts started it off in the backstroke portion, followed by
Joe Feiser in the Breaststroke and
Colton Hollon in the butterfly.
Micah Phillips finished things off in the freestyle portion, touching the wall after a total time of 1:20.57. That was nearly a 14 second lead than other lanes and gave Clarion their first win of the night.
The Golden Eagles racked up even more points in the 1650 Free, as they took the top three positions to build on their lead.
Ty Rabenstein was the first to touch the wall with a time of 17:23.03.
Isaac Wayne took second with a time of 17:39.36, and Shotts rounded it out with a time of 19:19.81
Clarion added to their lead with first and second place finishes in the 200 Free, with
David Bocci racing to a 1:45.49 finish, while Hollon finished with a time of 1:49.07 respectively.
Jacob Yant put Clarion right back in the winner's circle with a dominant performance in the 50 Free, hitting the wall in 21.90, nearly a two seconds faster than Boro's Luke Edmonds time of 22.25, to pace the field.
Edinboro rallied, taking first in the 200 IM, but Bocci stopped them cold in the 200 Fly. Bocci enjoyed a seven-second margin of victory in winning the event, recording a time of 1:55.29.
Sean Streyle was third, coming in at 2:08.39.
Connor Cary grabbed a first place finish in the 100 Free, racing to a 48.15 finish, while Rabenstein picked up another win in the mid distance 500 Free, touching the wall with a final time of 4:52.18.
The 200 Free Relay wrapped things up with a win, finishing in 1:28.44, sealing the victory for the Blue and Gold.
