Men's Swimming & Diving Cruises to Win at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle men's swimming & diving team went on the road for a dual victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Allegheny by a score of 174-50 at Mellon Pool.
 
Clarion started the day strong by stacking wins in the 200 Medley Relay, with the Golden Eagles' "A" and "B" units taking the top two spots in the race. Dominic Cortopassi, Paul Flowers, David Bocci and Austin Prokopec were the first to touch the wall, finishing in a time of 1:38.39, while Connor Cary, Joe Feiser, Mason Peck and Trent Napholz took second with a time of 1:39.78.
 
In the first individual event of the day, Napholz led the field in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:37.10, followed by Isaac Wayne (10:56.12) and Bobby Shotts (10:58.02) to complete the clean sweep of the event. Cortopassi (1:46.86) and Ty Rabenstein (1:50.66) took the top two spots in the 200 Free, with the former hitting a PSAC-qualifying mark in the event. Prokopec came in just under the conference mark in the 50 Free, winning the event with a time of 22.50 that was followed by Ryan Ehlers (23.19) and Rhiley Harris (23.41).
 
That momentum carried forward into the 400 IM, with Michael Lintelman hitting a qualifying mark with a time of 4:22.90 for the win. Mason Irwin just missed that mark himself, finishing in 4:29.87, while Nolan Songer took third with a time of 4:35.51. Clarion went on to take the top-three spots in the 100 Fly, with Cary finishing in 51.45, Bocci in 51.71 and Mason Peck in 54.92. Cortopassi earned another victory with a win in the 100 Back, finishing in 54.23, while Bocci (55.07) and Harris (59.75) took the other spots in the top-three. Ty Rabenstein won the 500 Free with a PSAC-qualifying time of 4:59.92.
 
In the diving events, Jordan Morret posted the top scores in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives. He notched a mark of 234.68 in the former and a 250.20 in the latter. Andrew Cestra took second in both with scores of 213.30 and 206.48.
