Relay Record Highlights Day 1 at Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio --- The Golden Eagle men's swimming & diving team broke the program record for the 200 Medley Relay, highlighting a strong first day at the Zippy Invite hosted by Akron. The field at the meet is comprised primarily of Division I opposition, yet the Golden Eagles showed well against the high-level competition.

The quartet of Connor Cary, Paul Flowers, David Bocci and Austin Prokopec topped the previous school record in the 200 Medley Relay, taking 13th in the field with a time of 1:31.36. That broke the previous record set by Ben Spencer, Ian Lindsay, Josh Thruston and Robert Hacku, a time of 1:32.19 set in 2016.

Also competing in the 200 Medley Relay was Aidan Mohren, Joe Feiser, Dominic Cortopassi and Nolan Songer. That squad took 15th with a time of 1:34.14.

That relay finish highlighted Clarion's night, but it did not conclude it. The foursome of Cary, Cortopassi, Mason Irwin and Bocci took 12th in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 6:47.30. They were followed closely by the grouping of Mason Peck, Prokopec, Ryan Ehlers and Ty Rabenstein, who took 13th with a time of 6:53.80.
