INDIANA, Pa. – The Golden Eagle women's basketball team concluded their 2021-22 season on the road on Wednesday evening, falling by a score of 92-41 to IUP at the Kovalchick Complex. Taking on the sixth-ranked team in the Atlantic Region, Clarion struggled to shoot in falling behind to the Crimson Hawks.

It was generally speaking a tough shooting night for the Golden Eagles, though they started the game with a 6-of-12 mark from the field in the first quarter. That gave was to a cold stretch in the second and third quarters as the Crimson Hawks pulled away and established a lead. Clarion outscored IUP 14-10 in the fourth quarter.

Alyssa McLellon came off the bench for five points and a team-high five rebounds, while Emily Hegedus scored a team-high eight points in 20 minutes of relief action. Neely Whitehead added six points, four rebounds and an assist.

The Crimson Hawks started the game on a 9-2 run, though Cory Santoro and Allyson Kirby cut into that with makes on back-to-back offensive possessions. Olivia Boocks cut it to 18-9 with a three-pointer at the 3:18 mark, and Kirby hit a buzzer beater to end the first quarter, taking a pass from Charjae Brock and making an 18-footer as the clock struck zero to make it 24-13.

It was still just an 11-point game early in the second quarter, when Haille Hart scored to make it 26-15 at the 8:23 mark of the period. The Crimson Hawks responded with a run for the rest of the quarter, holding the Golden Eagles to just three more points for the remainder of the first half. IUP continued to grow their lead, pushing it above 50 points by the end of the third quarter.
