Tennis Resumes Play, Falls to Davis & Elkins

Box Score HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Golden Eagle tennis team resumed their 2021-22 season on Monday, falling in a 7-0 decision to Davis & Elkins at the Spring Fest on Hilton Head Island. Clarion will resume action tomorrow when they face off with Roanoke on Tuesday, March 7.
 
The Senators were able to lock up the doubles session, winning both of the matches contested to take the point. Taylour Newman and Chavana Sreenath won the No. 1 doubles match by a 6-2 score, while Alayna McGovern and Josie Beckerleg fell in a No. 2 doubles match 6-1.
 
The closest singles match of the day came in the No. 5 contest, where Alyson Fisher kept it tight with Car Long. She went neck and neck with Long in the second set, but ultimately fell by a 6-1, 6-3 decision. Buttery dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to Sreenath in the No. 2 singles match, and Newman defeated Strouse in straight sets as the Senators took the win.
